Description

A George II serving dish and cover,

by Edward Wakelin, London 1758, the cover unmarked,

rectangular form, turned wooden baluster handle, engraved with a crest and 'F&C' crowned and '(1)', the pull-off cover with a scroll handle and engraved with a crest, the underside of the base with a scratch weight 48=16, length 36.8cm, approx. weight 43.4oz. (2)

The crest is that of Robert D'Arcy 8th Baron Conyres and 4th Earl of Holdernesse (1718-1778)
