Description

A Victorian silver engraved vinaigrette, Carlisle Castle,

by Hilliard and Thomason, Birmingham 1851,

rounded rectangular form, the hinged cover with an engraved scene of the castle, the interior with a pierced and engraved silver-gilt foliate scroll grille, scroll borders, the sides with engraved foliate scroll decoration, the base with engine-turned decoration, the base with an initialled cartouche, length 5cm, approx. weight 0.7oz.
