Description

A George IV silver raised relief snuff box, Mr. Pickwick,

by John Linnit, London 1852,

rectangular form, the hinged cover with a scene from Charles Dickens' Pickwick Papers, of Mr Pickwick addressing the club (probably after the print by Seymour which formed the front-piece of the Pickwick Papers printed in 1837), silver-gilt interior, the interior initialled 'J.B to G.M', '1852', the sides and base with engraved foliate scroll decoration, length 9.3cm, approx. weight 6.2oz.
