Description

A set of three George II silver tea caddies,

by Daniel Smith, London 1759,

rectangular bombé form, embossed foliate scroll and rocaille decoration, later engraved with an armorial, the pull-off covers with cone finials, on four pierced paw bracket feet, in a fitted shagreen case, with brass fittings and red velvet lining, height of larger central caddy 13cm, height of smaller 12.5cm, approx. weight 20oz. (3)

Provenance: Lawrence's, Crewkerne, April 2012 lot 473.

The arms are those of Mitchell impaling another.
