Description

A SMALL CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON INCENSE BURNER

SOUTHERN SONG / YUAN DYNASTY

The circular body with rope-twist loop handles to the rim above a band of nine studs and raised on three feet, 9cm.

Three related celadon censers also applied with studs around the sides were recovered from a Chinese wrecked ship which sank in 1323 off the coast of Korea. Cf. Special Exhibition of Cultural Relics found off Sinan Coast, National Museum of Korea, Seoul, 1977 nos.77, 268 and 269.
