A PAIR OF CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE 'BARAGON TUMED' BOWLS

DAOGUANG 1821-50

Painted to the exterior with the Seven Regal Treasures between bands of shou characters and Buddhist emblems, a flower roundel to the well, the bases with a two character Baragon Tumed mark, 14.1cm. (2)

Provenance: formerly in a Dutch private collection, c.1960s.

Cf. S Jennings, Later Chinese Porcelain, pl.CXII for another bowl from the same service. The service was made for the daughter of the Daoguang Emperor, who married a Mongolian prince of the Tumed banner.
