A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE DESHIMA ISLAND DISH
18TH CENTURY
Painted with three Europeans in a landscape scene, one walking a dog, a tower on a hill in the distance, all contained within a wave border to the rim, together with a Japanese blue and white Arita dish of similar design, paper collection labels, 20cm max. (2)
Provenance: from the collection of Helen Espir, nos. 232 & 260. The former purchased from Oude Aziatische Kunst, 8th April 1992; the latter from Sotheby's London, 2nd February 1993, lot 287.
