Lady Patricia Ramsay or Princess Patricia of Connaught was Granddaughter to Queen Victoria. On marrying Capt. Alexander Ramsay (later Admiral), she relinquished her title of Royal Highness and Princess of Great Britain and Ireland. She was one of several distinguished royal amateur painters and trained under A. S. Hartrick who had known Gauguin and Van Gogh and they undoubtedly had some influence on her style. She became a member of the New English Art Club in 1931 and was also an honorary member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
