A British heavy cavalry officer's dress sword, c. 1796, slender double edged blade 30.5 in., with etched details including GR cypher retaining traces of gilding, 1796 pattern gilt brass hilt with boatshell guard and knuckle bow, associated gilt brass mounted black leather scabbard, the locket and chape engraved with foliate scrolls, ornate frog stud.
