Description

An early George III mahogany tea table by Philip Bell, the hinged fold-over top on a single gate support with a frieze drawer, with a paper trade label inscribed 'Philip Bell CABINETMAKER Upholders & Undertakers at No. 23 St. Paul's Church Yard LONDON', with egg and dart mouldings on chamfered legs and later brass castors, 75cm high, 91.5cm wide, 45.5cm deep.

Philip Bell was a cabinet maker and upholder working between 1758-74. He was based at St. Paul's Churchyard and was successor to Elizabeth Bell. The trade label on this tea table was used c.1770-74.
