Description

A patinated pottery inkstand, in the form of a recumbent dragon, the beast's open mouth as a penholder and with a lift-out inkwell and sander, the base with impressed marks '15 S & G', probably for Shore & Goulding, late 18th / early 19th century, 10.5cm high, 15.7cm wide.

The Shore & Goulding Pottery was established in Isleworth in 1760, the works moved to Hounslow in 1825 and then to Wales in 1827.
