Description
A 19th century continental gold Royal Presentation snuff box,
bearing a scratched mark of 16K, I F R, B,
with serpentine front and sides, the cover engraved with elaborate rocaille decoration of an architectural capriccio amongst scrolls with birds, also applied with shell scrolls, the bombé sides and base with similar decoration, the underside of the cover engraved: "The Gift of H. R. H. Prince Albert of Prussia, To the Officers of H. M. S. Geyser, Given to Robert McKean, Surgeon, at Constantinople, 1843", length 8.5cm, approx. weight 122g.
