Description
A 19th century German gold and enamelled snuff box,
incuse crossed-S and sunray mark, numbered 3617 to the flange, Hanau circa 1820,
rectangular form, the cover with a courting couple by a fountain in a darkened wooded classical landscape within a delicate laurel and berry enamel border, the sides with a similar band flanked by turquoise and white enamel stringing, the base with a spray of flowers including roses, buttercups and a passion flower on a black ground, length 7.1cm, weight 78.7gms.
