A large George II silver beer jug,
by John Swift, London 1736,
baluster form, central girdle, leaf capped scroll handle, domed hinged cover with a removable pin, pierced thumb-piece and knop finial, on a raised circular foot, the front engraved with an armorial with a mask and foliate mantling, on a raised circular base, with traces of gilding, height 32.5cm, approx. weight 59oz.
The Arms are possibly that of the Duke of Hamilton
