ANGLO-CHINESE SCHOOL, A PAIR, AFTER THOMAS ALLOM

19TH CENTURY

Oil on canvas paintings, one depicting cat merchants and tea dealers at Tong-Chow, the other titled 'Sacrifice of the Chung-Tswe-Tsee, or Harvest moon', both framed, 30.7cm x 35.5cm. (2)

These views by Thomas Allom (1804-1872) were published in China Illustrated between 1843 and 1847 as part of a series of a hundred and twenty-eight engravings depicting views and people of China.
