TWO CHINESE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES

1750-1880

One in amber-yellow glass, the base carved in relief with a curled lotus leaf, with a band of leaves to the neck and mock lion mask handles, the other with dark brown splashes imitating tortoiseshell, 7cm max. (2)

Provenance: the yellow glass bottle purchased from C Y Tse, Hong Kong, 1987; the tortoiseshell bottle from Clare Lawrence Ltd. The Alexander Brody Collection; both pieces from the Bentley Collection.
