Description

A 19th century French Savonnerie Empire style carpet, with a central fan medallion decorated with laurel leaves and with a classical twin griffin flaming athenienne with an outer border of swags of flowers hung with eight musical instruments including lyres and a horn, with classical mask spandrels with palmette decorated headdresses, 490 x 439cm.

Provenance: From the collection formed by the late The Hon Mrs Daisy Fellowes, Donnington Grove, Berkshire, ex. The Main Bedroom.
