A CHINESE JIZHOU 'PAPER-CUT' BOWL
SONG DYNASTY 960-1279
With a wide flared conical body decorated to the interior with three brown quatre-lobed flowerheads against the variegated buff ground, the exterior coated in a dark brown tortoiseshell glaze mottled in beige falling short of the narrow ring foot, with a paper label inscribed 'T.Y. Chao Collections, Sotheby's' to the base, 10.8cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Francis Golding (1944-2013), purchased from Linart Ltd. London, on 4th April 1996, a copy of the original invoice is available. Previously in the collection of T Y Chao, Sotheby's Hong Hong 18th November 1986, lot 14.
