THREE CHINESE GLAZED STONEWARE BOWLS

SONG DYNASTY 960-1279

One Jizhou, with a paper-cut design of two phoenix and three flowerheads with a dark-brown glaze against a variegated buff ground, another Cizhou, with irregular russet splashes over a black glaze stopping short of the foot, the third a Henan bowl with abstract floral motifs on a black ground, the foot unglazed, 16cm. (3)

Provenance: from the collection of Francis Golding (1944-2013), all purchased from Linart Ltd. London, the phoenix and Cizhou bowls on 10th June 1994, the Henan bowl on 10th May 2000, copies of the original invoices are available.
