A PAIR OF CHINESE ALBUM PAINTINGS ON PAPER BY WANG HUI (1632-1717)
EARLY QING DYNASTY
Each depicting a mountainous river landscape with lines of calligraphy, one with a seal of Shi Gu and Wang Hui Zhi Yin, with another collector's seal Ji Cheng, the other with a seal of Shi Gu Zi and Wang Hui Zhi Yin, with two collectors' seals reading Xi Shuang and Gong Yu Ji Xing, both framed and glazed, 36cm x 26cm. Provenance: by repute, from the collection of Leopold Hirsch (1867-1932), a London financier and art collector.
Wang Hui (1632-1717) was a famous landscape painter, one of the so called Four Wangs, a group of 17th century ink landscape painters excelling in depictions of mountains and rivers.
