An Indian elephant goad (ancus), of iron decorated with gold koftgari, the re-curving hook mounted to a square-section shank and having upturned inner spur terminating in a monstrous head, leaf shaped spear point, openwork haft forming six cages each with a captive bell, rounded pommel, length 57.5 cm (22.5 in.)
