Description
An Indonesian silver and lacquer betel nut set,
with a central tapering pot, two boxes and three bowls on lobed bases, with chased foliate decoration, the lacquered stand with gold highlights on a black ground, total height 21cm. (6)
Provenance: Mrs. Agnes Van Gessler Verschuir, wife of Peter Rudolf Wolter van Gessler Verschuir, Governor of Yogyakarta, Java from 1929 to 1932, and thence by descent to the current owner.
