Description

AMENDED Isidor-Jules Bonheur (French 1827-1901). A bronze model of a running cow, on a naturalistic oblong base, signed 'I.BONHEUR' and stamped 'PEYROL', 37.4cm high, 67.5cm long.
Provenance: The collection of Roy Merley.
Bonheur was a regular Paris Salon exhibitor and the bull was one of his most popular subjects. The above bronzes were both cast by his brother-in-law Hippolyte Peyrol and they display the fine quality finish one would expect from a top fondeur.
