Description

A fine 16 bore presentation flintlock pistol by Prosser, sighted twist browned barrel 9 in., of round form with a top flat giving way to a hexagonal section at the breech, Birmingham proof marks, hooked breech, acanthus engraved tang; lightly engraved lock signed 'PROSSER', swan necked cock, waterproof pan, safety bolt, secured by a single side nail; with a white metal lock plate-shaped presentation plaque in place of a side plate, engraved with a light cavalryman at the gallop withdrawn sword and the legend 'Presented by the Field Officers of the Surrey Yeomanry Cavalry to the best SHOT in the Regiment 1831', all bordered by foliate scrolls; full stock with iron furniture and chequered butt, captive ramrod.
