Description
A fine 28 bore percussion target pistol by Van Wart, heavy octagonal damascus barrel with German silver fore sight, silver bands to the breech, top flat engraved 'LONDON', hooked breech, Birmingham view and proof marks, numbered 248 and 742M, breech and tang with fine acanthus engraving and with back sight to the tang; engraved back action lock signed 'VAN WART SON & CO', safety bolt, detented tumbler, adjustable trigger; half stock of 'saw handle' type with hinged cover to a cap compartment in the square butt.
