Description
A fine 32 bore percussion pistol by Sides of Oxford, sighted octagonal barrel 8.5 in., top flat engraved 'SIDES MAKER ST ALDGATES OXFORD.', hooked breech and engraved tang; foliate engraved lock signed 'SIDES OXFORD', hammer with large cavity in the nose and nipple well with (later) anvil having a central vent and a transverse groove (possibly a patch lock); detented tumbler; safety bolt; half stock with horn fore end cap; steel trigger guard with finger rest; adjustable trigger; brass tipped wooden ram rod with concealed worm.
