A CHINESE RED-GROUND SILK WOMAN'S SEMI-FORMAL KESI ROBE, JIFU
19TH CENTURY
Woven with silk and gold thread with eight roundels containing dragons with sacred jewels amongst clouds and the Eight Buddhist Symbols above stylised rocks and waves, mythical sea monsters and Buddhist symbols, 118cm across, 140cm long.
Provenance: purchased from Christie's New York on 2nd July 2008, lot 782. Donated to the Carnegie Museum of Art from a Pennsylvania private Collection.
