A RARE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE EGRET-MARKED KRAAK 'DEER' DISH WANLI 1573-1620 Finely painted in vibrant tones of cobalt blue with two deer beneath a pine tree, the bracket-lobed rim with eight panels of various blossoms, the reverse containing eight panels of lingzhi and cicadas, the base with an egret mark and a circular label for Bluett & Sons, London, 21cm. Provenance: formerly the property of a titled English collector. Cf. Christie's New York, 16th March 2015, lot 3502 and Christie's Amsterdam, 20th May 2008, lot 9 for other egret marked Kraak dishes. The egret mark appears exclusively on Wanli Kraak pieces of high quality, fine painting and moulded designs, was used at one particular kiln. There are only about 45 known examples recorded worldwide.
