A CHINESE HE XU REN STYLE 'WINTER LANDSCAPE' VASE
REPUBLIC PERIOD
The elongated ovoid body with a narrow neck and an everted rim, painted with a scholar on a donkey accompanied by an assistant crossing a bridge towards a village in an extensive snowy winter mountain landscape, the base with a four character Hong Xian mark, together with a wood stand, 24cm. (2)

Provenance: from an English private collection in Derbyshire, acquired in Hong Kong in the 1970s.
He Xu Ren (1882-1940) is one of the eight celebrated ceramic artists from the early 20th century known as The Eight Friends of Zhushan. Xu Ren is especially famous for his depictions of winter landscapes.
