λ A late 19th century Swiss tortoiseshell singing bird box, the top with a gilt brass hinged lid engraved with birds and flowers revealing a pierced grille and a brightly coloured bird, activated by a lever on the front of the box, the back with a hinged compartment, 10cm wide.
