Description

A pair of Ojibwe leggings
blanket cloth, canvas, coloured glass beads, hide and ribbon, the applied floral beaded strips with Cree script at the top and three triangles to the base and with fine green fibre borders,

Correspondence from 1963 to various persons asking for a translation of the Cree text terminated in 1994 with a letter from Hugh A. Dempsey, Calgary suggesting a friend of his, Stan Cuthand states the one with the lazy p's means 'Saulteaux Chief,' and may be the name of the person for whom they were made. The other one means 'Let's have a good time.'
