Description

An early 19th century malachite cameo-mounted two-colour gold suite of jewellery, all mounted in fine cannetille gold settings, comprising a necklace, head ornament (also wearable as a corsage), pendant, earrings and a ring, all mounted with graduated carved malachite oval cameos depicting various classical scenes including a woman selling Cupids as love tokens, the scene based on a Pompeian wall painting from Stabiae, which now hangs in the Naples Museum, the kokoshnik-style hair ornamemt 15cm wide, in fitted case by Harvey & Gore
