A CHINESE BRONZE ARCHAISTIC FOOD VESSEL GUI
QING DYNASTY
The bombé-shaped body with two zoomorphic handles divided by flanges and cast with taotie masks and a band of stylised mythical beasts to the flared foot, all against a key fret ground, a three character inscription incised to the interior reading bo zhu yi, 38cm, 4.6kg.
Provenance: an English private collection formed in Bath in the 1920s.
