SIX CHARACTER QIANLONG MARK AND OF THE PERIOD 1736-95

With the body formed as a bottle gourd, all evenly coated with light celadon-green glaze, 37.5cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Peter Meyer, believed to be purchased from Sydney Moss Ltd.

Cf. Qing Dai Tao Ci Da Quan, p.333 for a comparable example from the same period. Also see Christie's Hong Kong, 30th November 2011, lot 3318 and Christie's Hong Kong, 28th May 2014, lot 3322.

The gourd symbolises the harmony between heaven and earth, healthy offspring and good fortune.
