A CHINESE OVOID 'ONE HUNDRED BIRDS' VASE

SIX CHARACTER IRON-RED QIANLONG MARK AND POSSIBLY OF THE PERIOD

Finely painted with a pair of phoenix and other birds, bai niao chao feng, amongst trees, rockwork and various plants, all en grisaille and in an iron-red palette, the interior turquoise, 18cm.

Provenance: an English private collection, Dorset, purchased from Sydney L Moss Ltd. on 25th August 1964 for £140 a copy of the original invoice is available. Previously in the Robert Bruce and Palmer collections.
