ATTRIBUTED TO SHEN ZHOU (19TH CENTURY)

AUTUMN LANDSCAPE

A Chinese scroll painting, ink and colour on paper, title-slip reads Ming Shen Shi Tian cao tang qiu se tu, inscribed, dated autumn of the ren zi year,signed with three artist's seals and two illegible seals, 134cm x 44.5cm.

Provenance: from the collection of general Long Yun and thence by descent. Long Yun (1884-1962) was the late governor and general of Yunnan. Long was an extraordinary man, known as the 'King of Yunnan'. General Long governed Yunnan for eighteen years, and was appointed commander-in-chief of the Army of the Nationalist party of China, when fighting the Japanese.
