A JAPANESE WOOD NETSUKE
EDO 1603-1868
Carved as a fox seated with its right paw resting on a tsuzumi hand drum, depicted with rounded ears and long eyelashes, unsigned, 4.3cm.
This netsuke possibly depicts the Kabuki character Kitsune Tadanobu with the Hatsune drum from the play Yoshitsune Senbon-Zakura.
