AN UNUSUAL WOOD AND IVORY NETSUKE
MEIJI 1868-1912
Depicting Hotei, the God of Contentment and Happiness, standing and holding a large peach in one hand and a fan in the other, his coat depicted in wood and decorated with stylised clouds, with traces of staining, the himotoshi cleverly hidden in the removable left foot, a three character signature underneath, possibly for Toyosai, 4.8cm.
