A JAPANESE WOOD SINGLE-CASE INRO

MEIJI 1868-1912

Carved as a purse decorated with a multitude of chrysanthemum flowerheads, the centres inlaid with small coral beads, with a vajra-shaped metal ojime and a wood netsuke carved as a gourd, possibly also used as a snuff bottle, unmarked, 6.9cm max.

Provenance: the collection of an English gentleman, acquired from Spink.
