A JAPANESE BAMBOO AND ROOTWOOD IKEBANA BASKET, HANAKAGO
MEIJI/TAISHO PERIOD
The bulbous body constructed of bamboo strips of different widths woven in a diagonal pattern, the rim and bail handle constructed of gnarly rootwood and the short foot made of twisted bamboo, unsigned, 45cm.
Provenance: a Spanish private collection, Madrid, purchased from Katie Jones Oriental Art, London, in June 1995. A copy of the original invoice is available.
