A GOOD JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE BY RYOZAN
MEIJI 1868-1912
The ovoid body with a short everted neck, finely painted in polychrome and gilt with a continuous design of beauties conversing under flowering branches of prunus, a small boy attendant following them carrying goods wrapped in clothes, possibly for a picnic under the cherry blossoms, the foot and shoulder with bands of elaborate brocade designs, the base signed Ryozan under the Shimazu mon, 21.5cm.
