Description

A TIBETAN CARVED, PAINTED AND GILT-WOOD SHRINE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI

19TH CENTURY

The gilded image of Buddha Shakyamuni carved in high relief and set within a niche, the Buddha wears a maroon tunic and sits on a fine lion throne with an ornate throne back, above him is the sun and the moon and around him are chrysanthemums and peaches which symbolise longevity, 20cm.
