Description

A mid-18th century oak longcase clock by Thomas Bevan of Marlborough, the eight day brass movement with four turned pillars, with an anchor escapement striking on a bell, the twelve inch brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the matted centre with a subsidiary seconds dial and a date aperture engraved with three birds, signed 'Thomas Bevan Marlborough', with gilt Rococo spandrels, the hood with an inverted bell shaped top, above a blind-fret frieze, with a plain case, 200.5cm high.
