The vendor of these chambersticks wrote the following about them on the reverse of a dinner menu: 'The Dinner is to celebrate the creation of a set of twelve silver chambersticks. We commissioned H. Perovetz, Silversmiths of Chancery Lane, London to design and make them, and chose as our theme our Coat of Arms. The castle is the central capital and with the turret removable as a sconce. The saucer has the oak and vine leaves incorporating the motto and is engraved with the full Coat of Arms. The handle is the full Crest with a small castle in the Griffin's hands being the receptacle for the snuffer. The snuffer itself has a rope border with oak and vine leaves and the symbol for Ermine. Each chamberstick has three removable pieces all of which are numbered and bear our own silver hallmark'.
