Description

An ornate, late George III table centre piece/candleabrum, on a shaped square base with masks and paw feet with a vase-shaped central column, decorated with stiff leaves fitted with four scroll branches with removable capitals (for use as an epergne), the centre section of the vase column with removable dish, or extension to take either a five light 'crown' section or a single-light extension enabling conversion of this upper tier to either one, three or five lights, the base with engraved crest and coat of arms (only one glass dish present, A/F), maker's mark of "RG", possibly R Gainsford, Sheffield 1817 (the base with lead loading), 26.8in (68cm) maximum height, 18in (46cm) span of branches, 315 oz weighable silver appx.
