TWO JAPANESE BRONZE VASES

MEIJI/TAISHO PERIODS

The largest in two parts, the bulbous body with a tall circular neck and applied with scroll handles, raised on three elegantly curved feet, with a removable circular tray wedged at the top signed with a two character mark, the other with a tall flared body and the surface mottled with brown and red splashes, raised on cloud-shaped feet, 38cm and 21.5cm respectively. (3)

Provenance: both a Spanish private collection, Madrid. The tallest vase purchased from the Kyoto Gallery, Brussels, in the 1990s, and the other from Peter Wain, London, in the 1990s.
