Description
A JAPANESE GOLD LACQUER BOX, COVER AND INNER TRAY
MEIJI 1868-1912
With a rectangular body and lobed corners, the lid and sides decorated with many fans depicted in hiramaki-e, tamaki-e, togidashi and kirikane with a variety of patterns including flowers, butterflies and birds, some imitating ink paintings, the inner tray and inside of the box with the same pattern of dandelion seed heads on a dense ground of foliage; possibly for the storage of sweets, kashibako, 16.2cm x 13.5cm x 11cm.
