A JAPANESE BLACK LACQUER TRAY
MEIJI 1868-1912
Of rectangular shape, the shallow body decorated in red and gold enamels with a cart amongst stylised clouds, possibly a reference to Genji Monogatari, (The Tale of Genji), the reverse with a two character seal mark in an oval cartouche, one character shaped as a stylised elephant, 60.5cm x 42.5cm.
