A JAPANESE SATSUMA BOWL

MEIJI 1868-1912

The well richly decorated with shaped cartouches containing boys at play, beauties and children in an interior and houses by a river before Mount Fuji, all surrounded by radiating panels of butterflies, flowerheads and brocade patterns, the outside with a continuous scene depicting further beauties and children, a band of flowers and birds underneath, a two character mark to the base, 15.3cm dia.; together with a small plique-à-jour enamel vase with ho-ho birds in flight amongst flowers, the base marked Kume for Kumeno Tetaro of Nagoya (1865-1939), 12cm. (2)
