A LARGE CHINESE 'SWATOW' DISH
16TH/17TH CENTURY
The interior painted in iron-red, green and turquoise with three phoenix in flight amidst stylised peony flowerheads and leaves, the centre decorated with the twenty-four directions of the compass, with a paper label to the base reading No.2 Rp.Rosso, 38cm.
Provenance: from a Dutch collection, purchased in Indonesia prior to 1975.
